Bowie/Mitchellville Alumni Chapter Brothers and Kappa Leaguers participated in the 1st Annual Neighborhood Fest where we served the community by giving out backpacks and information about our upcoming Kappa League 2022-2023 year.

Kappa Leaguers receive $5,000 scholarship donation from Diamond Foundation

Kappa Leaguers of the Bowie-Mitchellville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. received a donation of $5,000 from the Bowie-Mitchellville Alumni Chapter Diamond Foundation during their 2022-2023 retreat.

Kappa Leaguers reflect on a phenomenal 2021-2022 year

Kappa Leaguers of the Bowie-Mitchellville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. completed another phenomenal year as they all gathered to reflect on their remarkable experiences and achievements during their End of the Year Cookout and Awards Ceremony/Celebration.

On Saturday, June 4th, the Kappa Leaguers of the Bowie-Mitchellville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. took part in our Physical Fitness, Health & Wellness Forum. The Forum addressed both preventative care and health disparities within our community. Currently, 36% of black youth aged between 2-19 are overweight and/or obese. And African-Americans are 60% more likely to be diagnosed with diabetes than white adults.

Memorial Day Parade

The Kappa Leaguers of the Bowie-Mitchellville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. had the pleasure to participate in the City of Bowie's Memorial Day Parade. It was indeed a delightful sight as our young men celebrated the spirit of community while memorializing the countless sacrifices of our servicemen and women on behalf of our country.

This phenomenal opportunity was present by the Urban Professionals in the Community (U.P.C). Financial experts Victoria Richards, Justin Saunders and Le Omolabi were all on hand and provided the Kappa Leaguers with the necessary tools to be both fiscally responsible and to discern their needs from their wants.

BMAC Kappa Leaguers take home 1st Place

Despite the evolving pandemic metrics and protocols; a previous postponement due to inclement weather; and a history of uneventful finishes, the BMAC Kappa Leaguers successfully and vigorously competed against six (6) other local Kappa League Chapters from the DMV. Through it all, BMAC Kappa Leaguers remained both resilient and undeterred in their preparation. Many thanks to the parents for their continued support.

Teen Suicide Prevention: Mental Health & Wellness Forum

Kappa Leaguers of the Bowie-Mitchellville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. embraced the significance of valuing their mental health while participating in our Teen Suicide Prevention: Mental Health & Wellness Forum. Recent studies have found that suicide is the second leading cause of death for African-Americans aged 15 to 24. As a preventative measure, our young men learned key coping concepts; introspective tools to navigate generational family trauma and discord; insight into identifying the warning signs of depression; the nexus between social media and bullying; and how honesty is the gateway to your healing.

BMAC Brothers vs. BMAC Kappa Leaguers. Who won?

The Bowie-Mitchellville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc battled the Kappa Leaguers in a 3-on-3 basketball tournament. This event was all about Brotherhood, the Bond and the love of Basketball while also building memories with our Kappa Leaguers!

Kappa Leaguers give back during Holidays.

The Kappa Leaguers of the Bowie-Mitchellville (MD) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. were able to truly grasp the true significance of gratitude and service by participating in TWO impactful engagements. First, by 5am predawn, 19 Kappa Leaguers converged on the Share Food Network in Landover, MD as they were able to support their community by assisting with a food distribution.
